Noni History
Noni was first discovered and used by man long before recorded history in South Asia and the subcontinent, when ancient Indian scientists began examining the world to find plants good not only for food, but to treat disease and ill health. Noni was noted to be a balancing agent, stabilising mankind in perfect health.
Noni was more widely used than any other medicinal plant until European medicine became widespread, and is documented as a common medicine around the world in numerous cultures. Noni is one of the Pacific’s most important plants, with the roots, bark, buds and fruit used to treat a wide range of health problems.
Studies & Statistics
I was reading an article in the newspaper a couple of weeks ago that stated that a study had shown that people who floss their teeth regularly live longer than people who don’t floss their teeth at all. How bizarre! Does flossing one’s teeth mean one enjoys a longer life?
Dying To Work
New Zealand’s Sunday Star-Times newspaper recently published an article on a study undertaken at Massey University’s Centre for Public Health Research. The investigators had found that tens of thousands of New Zealanders are in jobs that put them at increased risk of cancer - but neither their doctors nor they know it.
They say work-related cancers affect between 700 and 1000 people a year and kill 400, yet fewer than 40 cases a year are notified to the Labour Department - this in a country with a population of just 4 million people.
Noni and the Immune System
Inside our body is an amazing protection mechanism called the immune system. It is designed to defend us agains millions of bacteria, microbes, viruses, toxins and parasites that would love to invade our body.
An immune system is a collection of mechanisms within an organism that protects against disease by indentifying and killing pathogens and tumour cells. it detects a wide variety of agents from viruses to parasitic worms, and distinguishes them from the organisms own healthy cells and tissues in order to function properly. Detection is complicated as pathogens adapt and evolve new ways to successfully infect the host organism.
Noni Juice and Energy Levels
A desire for more energy is one of the most common requests heard in doctor’s offices today. Lack of energy can be defined as exhaustion, weariness, sleepiness, fatigue, drowsiness of lethargy. We all feel like this from time to time, but sustained and on-going lack of energy is usually our bodies’ first warning that something is not right. Lack of energy is not a disease – it’s a symptom.
Energy loss can occur for a variety of reasons. The quality of the fuel we put into our body is the most obvious cause, but a variety of other factors may be the cause of, or else contribute to, a lack of energy. Short-term factors in our life contributing to a lack of energy could include having a cold or flu, pregnancy, glandular fever, pre-menstrual tension, migraine or an infection. More long-term or severe contributors to a lack of energy could include anemia, insomnia, under or over active thyroid, diabetes, malnutrition or anorexia, auto-immune disease, chronic fatigue syndrome, allergies, hypertension, cancer or hormonal imbalance (often brought about by poor diet). Often drugs subscribed to treat a medical condition are the cause of lack of energy.
The Cost of Biofuels
This blog is unconnected to Noni, and not even connected to health matters, but I was reading an article in this mornings newspaper that got me thinking that no matter how hard we, as a human race, try to get things right, our ideas and therefore governing policies often swing wildly like a pendulum, and we can get things so very wrong.
We have all read countless articles on global warming and Al Gore certainly raised the worlds consciousness when he took global warming as his cause after his defeat in the USA Presidential elections in 2000. There is no doubt the climate of the world is changing. There is also no doubt the climate of the world has been constantly changing since our Planet Earth first came into being. The question now is - how much of the current changes can be attributed to population growth, industrialisation and the actions of mankind, and how much can be attributed to natural climate changes? I don’t know the answer - I don’t know if anybody does. The certainty is that our climate is changing and over a period of time, those changes will effect the world as we now know it.
Noni & Weight Management
In simple terms, we gain weight because our energy input exceeds our energy output – we eat more than we burn and this excess is stored as fatty deposits. But this conventional diet wisdom does not always hold true. Weight gain can also be caused by health conditions such as hypothyroidism, food sensitivity, organ disease, prescription drug use, anxiety, blood sugar imbalance, essential fatty acid deficiency and even a lack of sleep.
Weight gain is a natural progression of aging. Trees start off life as narrow saplings, not unlike slender young teenagers, then as a tree ages, its girth starts to increase. Humans are no different, but natural healthy weight gain becomes a problem when we gain more than we are comfortable with. When the weight we gain becomes a health issue, rather than the health issue causing the weight gain – that’s when our lifestyle needs to change.
Exercise - The Key to Youth
Exercise may hold the key to youth according to a study which shows that people who keep fit are up to nine years biologically younger than those who do not. The findings are the first to show how keeping fit affects the ageing process in humans. Researchers from King’s College, London wrote in the Archives of Internal Medicine about a study of 2401 twins and found that a sedentary lifestyle raises the risk of a range of problems from heart disease to cancer, and appears to play a key role in the ageing process.
Chemical Constituents of Noni
The health benefits of consuming certain fruit and vegetables have been known for centuries. Epidemiological studies of the 20th century clearly demonstrated that eating certain plants or plant-based foods protects against several chronic disease conditions, such as cardiovascular disease and cancer. For example, people who consume nutrient-rich foods and get enough vitamins and minerals from their diet reduce their risk of common illnesses such as cancer, heart disease and osteoporosis.
Nutritional Analysis of Noni Juice
Noni is the ultimate most comprehensive natural nutrient that works in synergy with our processes to distribute the nutrients where required. Most of us would agree that while eating healthy is a pre-requisite for a healthy and long life, unless we grow the food we eat ourselves, then we have little control over the processes food goes through before it reaches our plate.
